Arbor Real Estate and The Rob Machado Foundation created the Clean Water for Kids initiative with the goal of installing FloWater station in every school in the Newport-Mesa school district. Today the pro surfer along with representatives from Arbor Real Estate dedicated two new refilling stations that were recently installed at Ensign Intermediate school.
The purpose of the stations is to eliminate single-use water bottles — which pollute our watersheds and oceans — and to give students access to clean, tasty water. The Clean Water for Kids initiative has already funded and installed stations at Newport Elementary School in Newport Beach and Davis Magnet School in Costa Mesa.
Arbor Real Estate held a fundraiser last December and raised $18,000 for The Rob Machado Foundation that will be used to help fund the installation of water stations throughout the year. Newport Harbor High School is the next school scheduled to receive a FloWater station. Machado was presented with the check before the ceremony by Kristin Barry, Managing Broker at Arbor Real Estate and real estate agents Nicole Dishon and Lieveke Engleking — all who have children that attend Ensign.
Each student will be provided with a water bottle through the Clean Water for Kids initiative, which will foster pride in and a commitment to their beach community and environment as they refill their bottles.
“We are proud of our partnership with The Rob Machado Foundation to help educate local kids about the negative impact single-use plastic water bottles have on our environment and give them an environmentally friendly choice when they are at school,” says Kristin Barry, Managing Broker at Arbor Real Estate.
