Shailin Elgin, an 8th grader from Ensign Intermediate School, is the latest winner of Arbor’s Stoke a Student contest. “This is a wonderful program you’re providing to the community!,” said Shailin’s mother, Bindi. “I may be biased, but you couldn’t have picked a better kid!” This is his first surfboard and what better way to start off the summer than with a new Wave Tools Surfboard?
Ron Millar of Arbor Real Estate met Shailin at Surfside Sport to give him his board and provide some surfing advice. This is the last surfboard giveaway until the school year starts again in September. Arbor Real Estate launched the “Stoke a Student” campaign in partnership with Surfside Sports in Costa Mesa four years ago. The contest is aimed to inspire students to value education and to succeed in school. The Stoke a Student contest awards a surfboard to one elementary, junior high school, or high school student in the Newport-Mesa area every other month during the school year. Students can win by filling out the entry form at Surfside Sports (no purchase necessary). Arbor Real Estate chooses a winner by random drawing. After showing proof that they carry a B grade average (or better) in school over the past semester the winner will walk away with a new board!
“This is one way that we can contribute to our community,” said Chris Brigandi, Founder of Arbor Real Estate. “It’s important to all of us at Arbor to give back, and since surfing is such a big part of our way of life, this contest is the perfect fit for us.”
